The circumstances surrounding the manner and place of a person’s death also differentiate the actions you will need to take at that moment.

Initial actions of relatives when death occurs
If, for example, the death occurs in a hospital, clinic or nursing home, the attending physician of the institution will certify the death (issue the death certificate) by filling in the details of the deceased from their police ID, which you should have with you.
If the death occurs at home from natural causes, then you notify your family doctor who will certify the death, again with the identity of the deceased.
In the case where death occurs suddenly from unknown causes, you should inform the police, who will then order a post-mortem examination to be carried out by the Medical Forensic Service, so that the Coroner can establish the cause of death.
In any of the above cases, it will be useful to contact us immediately, as the emotional charge you will have at that time, is not always a good advisor of the actions you should take. We, from our experience, will give you the necessary directions that you will need to follow, in order to avoid any additional inconvenience.
Dead man’s clothing
Along with the death certificate, the deceased’s ID and the above information, you will also need to provide us with the deceased’s last clothing. Basically prefer cotton and not heavy clothes (e.g. sweaters) or synthetics, which do not facilitate the decomposition of the body.
